Air Conditioning and Refrigeration - Apprenticeship

About you

You have worked for at least one year in a hands-on role and are looking for a career within the air conditioning industry. You work well within a small team, can follow instruction, and constantly look for ways to learn, develop and increase your skills. You go out of your way for customers and always act with integrity. You must be passionate for wanting to be the best you can for yourself and others

You have great attention to detail, and you are an ace at prioritising tasks. You’re willing to pitch in and have a ’whatever it takes’ attitude.

About the role and the main responsibilities

  • This is a site-based role working in a small team
  • Follow the direction and work under the instruction of experienced technicians
  • Work with experienced technicians to assist with the professional installation for residential and small commercial clients air conditioning needs
  • Assist experienced technicians with service, repairs and maintenance as required
  • Ensure outstanding customer service through quality workmanship and communication excellence

Key selection criteria

  • Completed HSC or equivalent
  • Minimum one-year work experience (part time, full time or casual)
  • Ready to make a career out of the trade
  • A positive, pro-active and respectful attitude always
  • Excellent all-round communications skills

Mechnical Engineer - HVAC/Mechanical Services

The main responsibilities of this role are

  • Accurate and precise design, engineering, and co-ordination of shop drawings for commercial projects
  • Preparation of all aspects of design and construction documentation. Including drawings, quality control documentation, equipment selections and samples, technical data, commissioning resources. 
  • Carrying out the Climax design process and quality checks.
  • Provide innovative and economical value engineering solutions.
  • Assist with accurate estimating of projects and prepare tender documentation.

Key selection criteria

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Applied knowledge of BCA, and Australian Standards, in particular; AS1668.1 & 2
  • Proven ability to deliver heat load and equipment selection calculations, sounds knowledge of HVAC equipment and development of workshop drawing.
  • Ability to produce concept design and estimations
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • University Degree in Engineering

Desirable

  • Experience with a range of design software including:  MS office, Auto CAD, CAMEL, Bluebeam, Revit and Navisworks

  • Ensures assigned projects are delivered to a very high quality and measurable KPI’s.
  • Manage designated project budgets, schedule and quality using Climax’s Project Management Processes.
  • Ensure high level communication and engagement with stakeholders, including team and client meetings.
  • Effectively manage exposure to risk through implementation of effective risk identification and controls and quality assurance.
  • Effectively manage project cash flow by ensuring project invoicing is accurately forecast and handled in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely according to Climax’s WHS management system.

Key selection criteria

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience excelling in a similar position
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, manufacturing and education Project Management for construction
  • Extensive experience in managing successful HVAC projects

  • Carry out professional and quality installations of electrical equipment including power, data, lighting and controls in commercial applications

This is a critical role and works closely with the Project Managers to ensure works are delivered upholding our reputation for high quality

About the role

As the Leading Hand HVAC Sheetmetal Installer, you will play a vital role in meeting the teams daily progress aims. You will be responsible for ensuring that all installations are completed to a high standard and attention to detail.  This is a permanent opportunity leading an experienced team.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • This is a site-based role leading a team
  • Oversee and undertake all aspects of Sheetmetal installations related to commercial HVAC
  • Undertake site measures
  • Communicate material requirements
  • Collaborate with other trades
  • Report daily progress to the Site Manager

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience excelling in a similar position

The main responsibilities of this role are:

  • Discovery, qualification, and selection of tenders, such as
  • Small to large greenfield projects
  • Small to large refurbishments and upgrades
  • Accurate, professional, and timely tender submissions 
  • Meet and maintain pipeline targets
  • Assist with concept design of systems for estimating
  • Preparation of equipment schedules and selection 
  • Negotiation and review of pricing from sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Co-ordinate project v estimate reporting
  • Relationship management with existing and potential client base 

Key selection criteria

  • Mechanical/HVAC background is a must
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC Industry and relevant building codes
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in HVAC project estimation in Australia – Essential
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards and BCA
  • Proven experience excelling in a similar position
  • Experience and ability in electrical estimating, preferred but not essential
  • Exceptional all round communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritise, manage deadlines and work well under pressure
