Project Overview

Construction on the Gallery was completed in late 2021, the Gallery officially reopened to the public on 29th January 2022.  In April 2016, the BundanonTrust announced plans for a $33 million Riversdale Master Plan expansion.  The expansion resulted in a new subterranean art gallery, auditorium, restaurant, education spaces.  The adjoining accommodation bridge can comfortably accommodate 64 people, including artist in residence.

Located on the banks of the Shoalhaven River, the 1100-hectare estate celebrates one of Australia’s most well-known artists, Arthur Boyd.  As well as creating a haven for artists near and far, the Riversdale expansion will be able to showcase Boyd’s original art collection.  The collection, valued at $43million, is currently housed in Sydney due to the strict ambient conditions required to preserve the works.

ADCO Constructions awarded Climax Air Conditioning the mechanical design and construction package.  Working together throughout the complex project, to deliver critical controlled spaces.  Which will now allow for the collection to be brought home to Riversdale.

The unique design of the gallery system was completed by our Inhouse Engineering team.  The design, complete with precision humidity control, incorporates a bushfire proof inground geothermal heat exchanger, two reverse cycle heat pumps, Air Handling and Fan Coil units.  As a result the mechanical system will maintain strict temperature and humidity balance.  Ensuring the longevity of the prized artwork. Further to the gallery requirements there are DX Air Conditioning systems, Kitchen exhaust, and a fully integrated BMCS system.

The Riversdale Master plan now joins the company’s growing list of specialist mechanical services.  Other projects with specialised design include Shoalhaven Regional Gallery, Jervis Bay Maritime Museum, The Australian Botanical Gardens Seed Drying Room, as well as the theatres and audio recording spaces in the UOW Science and Arts Building.
