Huntley Street Recreation Centre

The Huntley Street Recreation Centre transforms a former 1980s warehouse at 6–8 Huntley Street, Alexandria into a vibrant, multi-purpose sporting and community hub. Designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Alexandria and Green Square precincts, the project reimagines the existing industrial building through a sustainable adaptive reuse approach, retaining over 95% of the original structure.

The new facility features four indoor multipurpose courts supporting basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball, badminton, gymnastics and pickleball, along with spectator seating, administration areas, modern change rooms, and flexible community spaces. Landscaped outdoor areas, practice courts, and bike parking connect the centre to the surrounding Green Links network and Alexandra Canal.

Climax Air Conditioning delivered the mechanical services for the project, installing reverse-cycle air-cooled VRF heat pump systems with ducted fan coil units, along with integrated ventilation, exhaust, BMCS and MSSB systems to ensure efficient climate control throughout the facility.
