The rebuild of Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat was completed in March 2022 and the project now joins our completed projects across various industries Climax worked closely with the principal builder and client throughout rebuilding of Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat.
The award-winning venue was destroyed in the 2019 black summer bushfires. During the rebuild, the devastation that was caused during the fires posed may challenges for the project team. One such challenge was loss of all power from the main electrical supply. This was entirely cut during the 2019/2020 bushfire season. Climax was engaged in essential early works to ensure the resupply of power so that construction could begin.
The entire venue rebuild included eight luxury accommodation cabins and stunning function venue. As well as al fresco dining areas, guest pool and amenities, managers residence and venue offices. Additional features include the western facing “Sun Deck”, complete with low level lighting to enhance the breath taking view and beauty even after the sun has set. The perfectly landscaped paths meander through the venue from the cabins, past the fire pit to the function centre. The paths are lit by 170 low watt bollard lights, bringing in the natural ambiance even at night. The function venue features floor to ceiling glass and overlooks the alfresco deck and bush setting, lit by the carefully selected feature lighting.
The function venue features an on-site commercial kitchen. Here Climax worked closely with the kitchen designers to ensure all power and lighting was installed to increase functionality and practicality. The remote locality of the Bush Retreat required power and lighting to be run to the on-site storm and waste water management plant.
The 12 buildings are set out over 50 acres of the 100 acre property. The meticulous planning aimed to compliment and embrace the surrounding natural beauty and bush setting. The power and lighting was therefore run to each building via hundreds of meters of underground cable, joined by specialised resin joins. Allowing bushfire protection and ensuring a natural setting.
