Climax Air Conditioning - Jervis Bay Maritime Museum

Completed Project: Climax Air Conditioning were engaged as principal contractor for design and construction of HVAC and solar upgrade works to the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum. This project was undertaken as an operational refurbishment with the museum remaining open throughout the works with minimal disruption.

The design brief was to provide a system with critical control capability for the museums Vera Hatton Gallery and air conditioning to the collection management centre to enable the museum to bring in high value exhibitions to display along with upgrading the system to offset the power consumption.

Climax designed new air conditioning systems with tight temperature and humidity control for the Vera Hatton Gallery to maintain conditions @ 22deg and 55% humidity.
The system was set up with temperature only mode functionality so the museum is able to reduce power consumption when not displaying exhibitions that require a critical controlled environment.

A building management system was programmed to enable web-based remote monitoring and data logging for the systems so Climax Air Conditioning can ensure the system is maintaining the stringent required conditions in the room.
The works also included:
– 20Kw solar array and installation of grid protection to new and existing solar array totalling 70Kw
– Construction of new plant room
– New underground sub mains to serve the new mechanical services switchboard
– New recessed automatic glass sliding door.
