In 2021 Climax Air Conditioning completed the HVAC and Mechanical Services package for The Arthur Boyd Gallery and Accommodation Bridge at Bundanon on the NSW South Coast. Four years on the and unique architecture of the buildings are still winning awards.
Kerstin Thompson Architects were tasked with creating a design for a fireproof Art Gallery that could safely house the $43million Arthur Boyd collection, as well as local and international exhibitions. To compliment the fireproof art gallery Climax Air Conditioning’s in-house engineering team, needed to design a bespoke system for the gallery. Complete with precision humidity control, a bushfire-proof inground geothermal heat exchanger, two reverse cycle heat pumps, and air handling and fan coil units, combining to maintain strict temperature and humidity balance and ensure the longevity of the priceless artworks.
Kerstin Thompson Architects have received several awards the stunning design of the Gallery and Accommodation Bridge, most recently being awarded architecture’s highest global accolade, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International Awards for Excellence 2024 for Bundanon’s Art Museum & Bridge for Creative Learning.
