But how do Solar Thermal Air conditioners do this? They absorb solar energy to by using a thermal collector with copper heat conducting inner coils. The preheated refrigerant from the collector feeds directly into the compressor to reduce the amount of work needed and saves power.

The collector and compressor in the condenser have been designed to work in tandem to allow a smaller compressor to be used. The smaller compressor consumes much less electricity and combined with the solar collector, Solar air conditioners optimise energy savings and reduce running costs.
